DEXA Scan Test

What is a DEXA Scan Test?

DEXA (Dual Energy X-Ray Absorptiometry) uses very low-dose x-rays to accurately measure body composition. With a radiation dose less than that of a transcontinental flight, DEXA is more precise and provides more detailed information than calipers, bioimpedance scales, dunk tanks, or the Bod Pod. If we’re trying to manage our body composition, we must measure what we’re trying to manage. Don’t guess.
At Life Fit Labs, we use a DEXA machine from Hologic, a company that pioneered DEXA technology for measuring bone mineral density in 1989. Our machine scans faster than other models and accommodates larger individuals in a single pass. Your DEXA report will also include a calculation for Appendicular Lean Mass with a comparison to peers of the same age and gender.
